A New Vision for Asuom: Health Center to Open Dedicated Eye Clinic on September 7
Access to quality eye care is about to get much closer to home for residents of Asuom and its surrounding communities.
The management of Asuom Health Center is pleased to announce the official opening of its Eye Clinic on Sunday, September 7, 2026. This new unit marks a significant step in our commitment to providing comprehensive, specialized healthcare right here in our community.
For years, patients needing specialist eye services had to travel long distances. This new clinic changes that story.

The Eye Clinic will operate under the administrative oversight of the head of the facility, with its day-to-day clinical operations led by Mr. Frempong Kwarteng David, our dedicated Ophthalmic Nurse (OPN).
David’s story is one of passion and commitment to Asuom. Born on May 8, 1992, he began his healthcare journey right here at Asuom Health Centre in the RCH Department, where he served for four years. He then served another four years as a Registered Community Nurse (Diploma), building deep community experience.
Driven to do more, he pursued specialist training at the prestigious Ophthalmic Nursing School, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he earned his Degree in Ophthalmic Nursing.
Today, at 34, he returns to lead this new chapter with both expertise and a heart for the people he has always served.

What Services Will Be Available?
From day one, the clinic will be equipped to provide essential and lifesaving ophthalmic services, including:
1. General Eye Examination: Comprehensive assessment of overall eye health to detect early signs of disease. 2. Visual Acuity Testing: Accurate measurement of how clearly you see at various distances. 3. Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Conditions: Expert diagnosis and treatment for common conditions such as conjunctivitis (apollo), allergies, dry eyes, and infections. 4. Minor Eye Procedures: Safe, professional procedures including eye irrigation and removal of foreign bodies (sand, insects, dust) from the eye surface. 5. Intraocular Pressure Checking: Vital screening for glaucoma, a leading cause of permanent blindness, using eye pressure measurement.
When Can You Visit?
The clinic’s standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
However, understanding that eye emergencies don't keep office hours, Mr. Frempong has made a special commitment: Patients with urgent conditions such as eye injuries, chemical splash, sudden loss of vision, or severe pain will be attended to ANY DAY, including weekends.
